This is a great little drone, especially for a beginner. My 7 year old loves flying it. The controls are so easy to use, and it's so nice that it comes with an extra battery so we're always able to fly it. The camera works surprisingly well for a lower priced drone. It is extremely rugged- my son is tough on it and it has held up well for him. It also comes with extra propellers which have been handy. I can't speak much to range because we tragically lost a drone so he's hesitant to fly it too far away but it has been great for us!
